CMJ University was established at Shillong by the Government of Meghalaya in July 2009 under the provision of the CMJ University Act 2009 (Act 4 of 2009). The CMJ University is recognized by UGC and empowered to award degrees as specified by the UGC as per notification F.No. – 8-21/2010 (CPP-1/PU) Dated 25th November 2010.

CMJ University, Meghalaya offers a unique multi entry and multi exit system called the pyramid structure of the course under a system wherein a 10+2 student after going through one year of UG programme can take a diploma and exit or continue with the graduation degree. The Diploma students can enter the same system after some time from where they had left. Such admissions are termed as credit transfer. The same mechanism works for Post Graduate courses.

1) What is Industry Collaborative Education?
Industry Collaborative Education is most contemporary noble concept derived by CMJ University as a means of continuing education for employed professionals as part of the human resource development programmes of specific organizations. For the conduct of Industry Collaborative Education programmes, the basic requirement is the participation of the collaborative organization by extending physical and other facilities and by agreeing to integrate their work requirements with the academic requirements of the University for the Pursuit of the degree programme.

The biggest advantage of Industry Collaborative Education over distance education and conventional education is that students are getting theoretical and professional knowledge at the same time of study only. Where as in conventional and distance education programs, Students are required to spend 3-4 years in obtaining similar level of professional knowledge after their studies. So it is clear that Industry Collaborative Education students are more professional compare to the students of conventional/distance education.
