The School of Distance Education is an opening for all those who aspire for higher learning but have been deprived of formal education due to social and economic circumstances. It was established in 2009 with the approval of the joint committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC. At the helm of the School is the Director who is well-supported by an efficient team of Academic counsellors drawn from various Faculties of the University and administrative staff. The School of Distance Education is equipped with spacious classrooms, facilities for video-conferencing and e-learning, audio/video production units, interactive cells, specialized laboratories and library. There is also a counseling cell and grievance redressal cell.
The School of Distance Education has evolved suitable guidelines for conducting Personal Contact Programmes at different study centres. The study centres are established by the University and managed by the Centre Executives appointed by the University. A minimum duration of 50 hours for theory papers and 100 hours for programmes involving theory and practicals is prescribed by the School of Distance Education. Due importance is given for conducting practicals for all the laboratory oriented courses, in the university campus and / or at our study centres.
As per the suggestions of the DEC and in adherence to the SIM pattern, the course materials for the various programmmes are prepared by experienced subject experts.
